Our goal is to introduce a formal soccer training program to the female members of the Tibetan refugee community in India in order to improve their quality of life and to foster a connection with female athletes worldwide.

In support of its upcoming girls’ football program, TNSA has organized a month-long training camp for 24 Tibetan girls aged 12-15. Three girls from each Tibetan Children’s Village school were identified as ideal candidates for participating in the program, which will run from 11 January – 10 February at TCV Gopalpur.
The training camp, implemented by Cassie Childers, a volunteer from the United States, will include numerous dynamic elements designed to empower and inspire the participants. Subjects will include fitness, health, nutrition, leadership, teambuilding, communication and gender equality. Each day the girls will participate in a football training session on the ground, as well.
Expert visitors will include a professional football player from Europe, a sports psychologist from Delhi, a goalkeeping expert from the United States, and other qualified individuals.
After the camp has finished, the girls will travel back to their home schools and become the seeds of the new club teams that will be formed in March. This past November, adult physical education teachers from each school were trained specifically to develop skills to effectively coach girls, and will work together with these new youth captains to promote and implement the new Tibetan girls’ football program.
TNSA hopes that the new girls’ teams will make their public debut in October 2012 in exhibition games during the Gyalum Chemo Memorial Gold Cup, which will take place in Dharamsala.
